Bannockburn residents were given a look at what could become of 60 acres of the Trinity International University campus, with developer Hillwood encouraging feedback on its preliminary concept plans.

The meeting was organized by Trinity representatives and Hillwood. Village of Bannockburn President Frank Rothing said about a dozen residents attended to see the plans and ask questions.

The plans call for the construction of four buildings for a research and technology park on the southern end of the property, targeting biotech and pharma. However, Rothing emphasized nothing has been officially submitted to the village.

Rothing said Trinity will continue to maintain several buildings on the campus, including the library, chapel and the Waybright Center.

The Bannockburn campus dates back decades, Rothing said, but was impacted by the COVID pandemic. Trinity is looking to sell off more than 80 acres in total, he said.

Trinity International University announced in February of last year it would end its residential and in-person undergraduate education at the end of the spring 2023 semester. The decision was attributed to declining college enrollment.
