Twenty-two people were rescued after a boat burst into flames in the Bronx near Hart Island Saturday evening, FDNY sources and local Council member Kristy Marmorato’s office said.

First responders rushed to the scene of the fire after a boat was engulfed in flames. An ongoing water rescue was active, police said.

Large black clouds of smoke were billowing from the location.

No fatal casualties were reported, according to April Cardena, chief of staff for District 13 Council member Marmorato.

“Our first responders are working to ensure that anyone needing medical attention is transported to a hospital promptly, and that access to and from the island remains safe and orderly,” Cardena said.

NYPD Harbor Unit and Aviation were still at the scene Saturday night.

It was unclear what sparked the fire as first responders were still active and investigating the incident.
