The Gail Borden Public Library District is hosting a variety of Halloween season events for children of all ages.

Here’s a list of those offerings, according to the library’s website:

CHILDREN’S PROGRAMS

  • A preschool Halloween costume and dance party will be held from 10 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 22, at the main library, 270 N. Grove Ave., Elgin. No registration required.
  • A Spooky Book Party will be held from 4 to 4:45 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, online via Zoom. Attendees will read “There’s a Zombie in My Bathtub” and do a zombie craft. Registration is required, and registrants can pick up the take-home craft kits at the main library through Oct. 24.
  • The Halloween Boo Bash for kids ages 4 to 10 will be held from 4:45 to 5:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 28, at the Rakow Branch, 2751 W. Bowes Road, Elgin. No registration required.
  • Halloween parties for young children will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 30-31, at the main library. There will be stories, activities and trick-or-treating throughout the building. Registration required.

TEEN PROGRAMS

  • Teens in grades 6 through 8 are invited to find the cure for zombification in the Zombie Escape Room from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, at the main library. Registration required.
  • Create Halloween beats using spooky samples and drum loops from 4 to 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 29, in the Studio 270 Digital Media Lab at the main library. Open to teens in grades 9 through 12. Registration required.
  • The Teen Horror Film Fest will be held from 3 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 31, in Studio 270 at the main library. “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire,” “Imaginary” and “Five Nights at Freddy’s” will be shown. No registration required.
