Lily Collins’ latest look is her least “Emily” and most “Paris” yet. In fact, Emily Cooper’s distinctive vintage camera-shaped phone case—and the rest of the surrounding camera equipment—is the only clue that Collins was immersed in filming Emily in Paris season five.

This season, the story moves back to Paris after a brief vacation in Rome—and the star of the guilty pleasure series is the very image of sophistication with a revamped version of her jaw-length bob with the tips swept forward. Gone are the lopsided berets, garish prints, and impossible volumes. They’ve given way to a sleek, understated silhouette that we could easily imagine any Parisian publicist sporting. Finally, a style that Sylvie Grateau would undoubtedly approve of.

In the new photo, which can be seen here, Collins is dressed in a simple, short-sleeved midi dress with an impeccable cut and a subtle red floral print that match her raspberry lips, wine-colored nails, and sunglasses frames. Perhaps the most “Emily Cooper” part of the outfit were the patent leather platform peep-toe Mary Janes heels.

It would be quite fitting with the latest developments in the plot if it were a vintage Victoria Beckham dress available at Vestiaire Collective worn by her character at an equally unstable, but slightly more adult and professional moment in her life. The proof is that the series’ stylist has opted for simple jewelry and left out any “TikTok” variables in her outfit formula… And it’s appreciated.

It’s as if now that she’s finally stopped trying to look Parisian, trying to learn the language, and fitting in with the American notion of her way of dressing and behaving that Emily is closer to achieving the look than ever. There isn’t much of Emily’s usual nonchalance—which we could translate as indolence of carelessness—in Lily Collins’ meticulously curated new look, which certainly feels much more Paris than Emily Cooper.
