NYPD cops shot and wounded a man armed with a machete during a harrowing standoff inside a Bronx apartment, police said Thursday.

Cops were called to the building on Third Ave. near Bruckner Blvd. — just off the Third Ave. Bridge between Manhattan and the Bronx in Mott Haven — about 10:15 p.m. Wednesday in response to a heated fight in a sixth-floor apartment, officials said.

When they arrived they found a 24-year-old man holding a machete arguing with his girlfriend.

Cops demanded the man drop the weapon but he refused, NYPD officials said.

One of the officers fired a Taser at the armed man but it didn’t stop him, cops said. Another officer then fired off at least one round, shooting the suspect in the left arm.

The officers wrapped a tourniquet around the wound as medics arrived and rushed the man to Lincoln Hospital, where he’s expected to recover.

The two cops involved in the shooting were taken to an area hospital for ringing of the ears.

The NYPD released a photo of the machete Thursday.

Criminal charges weren’t immediately filed against the man with the machete, who was arrested for assault in 2019, cops said.

A probe by the NYPD’s Force Investigation Division was continuing Thursday.
